Dear Faisal

Thank you very much for your note and for dropping by. You are very right about the point you have made and I completely agree. Sometime you just have to ignore it and let it go. It happens every year and there are many years in the last eight years when I haven't said anything at all. I can live with that.

What got me in the end was the total absence of civility on one of the forums where this debate raged on without end for a few days. Some of the participants at the P@SHA ICT Awards have worked for years, pitching again and again before they finally made the cut. I can live with a lot of disrespect that is aimed at me personally; live with disrespect heaped at P@SHA but lets be civil with every one else and acknowledge that there is a chance that it was merit at work and not biased judges who doled out prizes to their relatives and friends. There is so much that is wrong with our beloved country today that when people piss at the few things that are right, they need to be corrected. That is all.

No offense intended or meant. And once again thank you very much for dropping by.

I do understand the rage a jury member and organizer would feel at the blatant criticism being directed towards P@sha here but by making fun of or ostracizing those who are criticizing this organization what will we achieve? These are public awards hence the public has a right to be critical, all we need to do is take it with a pinch of salt. Organizing something this huge is not a joke, doing it voluntarily speaks of noble aspirations, many of us understand this..those who don't will in time.

Thank you Imran. I think there has been some productive feedback on the posts. And we are absolutely going to make sure that this feedback finds it way to the next awards. I go back to something that Jehan always says. P@SHA is not just the three people working at the Secretariat. It is all of us. What we put in together as a group will determine how far P@SHA will go.

Two constructive suggestions - I hope - are:

There is too little focus on the winners. Partly this is because, there are too many award categories. Something you may or may not be able to sort out. But also, while the winner is walking down the hallo of light, you could read atleast a 3-page citation of why he won the award. Whats so cool about what he did? how big a market he has? etc. Think of these as Nobel Prize citations. I felt everything was too rushed and I hardly got to know any winners at all except those I already knew.

Thank you Adnan for stopping by. Much appreciated. I agree with some of your assessment but I think portals and aggregation has its own place. They allow people to find out and they are great source of traffic referrals. At the same time just getting to a certain traffic milestone is not enough to win an award.
